one last DiVe night

Don't forget we are meeting for one last Wednesday night DiVe before summer. We'll be pulling together a bunch of stuff for Youth Sunday on June 7 and we'll need all of your help, regardless if you signed up for a specific role.

See ya there.

Exam Escape

You need a break from all that studying you've been doing! Or should be doing.

That's why it is all fun and games this week. Bring your favorite game for some time to just chill...eat a little pizza....have a little fun.

See you Wednesday

Mentor Reminder

Just a reminder that this week you meet with your mentors.......and we'll return next week for our last in the series on cats-n-dogs

Monday, April 27, 2009

more about cats-n-dogs

We're continuing our 4-part series on the difference between a dog & owner relationship vs. a cat & owner relationship.......and more importantly.....what that means when viewed with your relationship with God.

We're also going to have an extended discussion about planning the upcoming youth Sunday on June 7.

Cats & Dogs?

So, many of you have had a bizarre look on your face when we've mentioned this next series called "Cat & Dog Theology". Frankly, it left me wondering too.

But the jist of it is this: cats and dogs are different (obviously) and part of what makes them different is how they relate to their masters. That's where we come in......do we relate to God more as a cat or a dog?

This is what we'll be exploring over the next three teaching sessions beginning this Wednesday. See you all then.

Pick up Your Cross

We will be having catacombs this week as planned.....the theme is "lay down your life, pick up your cross.....follow Him"

Junior High will meet from 6:30-8:00pm
Senior High will meet from 7:45-9:00pm

We'll have time for quiet reflection and some discussion on the events of this last week. Our hearts all join in prayer for the Ringenbergs.

MENTOR NIGHT

that's right, this week is mentor night! Have fun.

Thanks for all the hard work by those who participated in the spring service projects....in all we had 16 youth and 4 youth leaders help with the event over the three days. A few donuts and a little pizza helped to.

Next week (April 8th) will be catacombs and we'll be splitting it up jr. high and sr. high. More details to follow.

Open Topic....Split Group

So, for the second week in a row your panel of "experts" will try to work through the questions and topics you guys came up with. This week will be a little different since the material may be "gender specific".

Questions/Topics for Split Groups – March 18

Relationships-with God and boyfriend/girlfriend. Keeping it pure and why it’s ok to be single.

Why is it so hard for guys to resist sexual temptations? (Pornography, revealing clothes)

Loving people you hate & getting friends back to liking you when they’re mad at you.

Is it ok to fight with friends?

Depression

See you all Wednesday!

Open TOPIC Night

That's right, this Wednesday we are taking YOUR topics, creating a panel of experts (uh, that would be us) and addressing these all important issues:

How to fear God? The Bible says that you should fear God and I don’t understand how you should “fear” God.

Idols

How to pray

Weapons against Satan

Why are superheroes classified as better?

Where the Garden of Eden is, was it destroyed? Invisible?

Where did God come from?

And we'll see you all on Wednesday.....next week we'll finish up the questions you had.

MENTOR NIGHT!

Hey, just wanted to remind everyone that this Wednesday night is Mentor night....not Dive....so, go get mentored.

See you all next week.

Let us Break Bread Together

You guys probably have no idea that that's the name of a song do you?
OK....this Wednesday night is a break from the norm. We will be having a time of "Breaking Bread". Now, don't confuse this with communion....although it is a sort of communion I guess.

We're inviting you guys to lead Wednesday night in a "catacombs-esque" program. You'll be the target of encouragement as your friends recall how they've seen you grow in Christ this year; to which you will respond by encouraging someone else.

It should be a pretty awesome time....and I'm looking forward to the skit some of you guys have been working on so hard.

See you Wednesday.

last of Paul

This Wednesday night we will have our last in the series on the parallels with the Apostle Paul. Thanks so much for sharing....which has led to great times in prayer.

Bring your journals!

more of Paul

We continue to make parrallels between the life of Paul and his work in Greece to our lives....right here, today in P-town. Do they still say that?

At any rate, join us again Wednesday night......and bring your journals, which I am confident you have been using for the follow-up alone time during the past week.

See ya.

Greek week continues

We continue on with the Greek theme........trying to better understand the parallels between Paul's words to the Athenians and their application to our lives.

We'll see you Wednesday night and DON'T FORGET YOUR JOURNALS!

back to the grind

All right, you guys have had off long enough. It's time to get back into it on Wednesday nights.

Tomorrow night we begin a short series on the Apostle Paul.....come, be ready to be welcomed into the arms of ancient Greece! Can you say "toga"?

Now-here's another reminder: if there is no school for Plymouth the day of DiVe due to snow, that means that DiVe will be cancelled also. It seems that that may be a very real possibility tomorrow.

But-I hope to see you all.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

HEY!

FYI

No DiVe tonight......it's mentor night.
